Richard Beales is a research engineer at IT Innovation in Chilworth, Hampshire, where he contributes to digital media R&D projects. He is particularly interested in life-caching and digital memories and is currently involved with an FP6 IST project, Polymnia, which is developing a personal experience capture and documentary system for use in visitor attractions such as theme parks. He is also interested in anything to do with smart workplaces, community-based knowledge management, urban computing or ambient intelligence. He has a PhD in Computer Science from the Grid and Pervasive Computing Group at University of Southampton and a BSc(Hons) in Electronic Imaging and Media Communications from University of Bradford.
